Dedicated to Dr. Naomi Wolf, among the most courageous of today's freedom fighters. Annis Domini 2020 to 2022—A Poem
By G.M. Kemman We never were what you said we were Never. But you believed we were and Told others so. We cannot escape the presence of your claims. They lurk wherever you placed them. They haunt us with savage implications. Their shadows loom and distort. Knowing you believe yourselves righteous slays Our hearts. We thought you knew us to be good. We once felt deep caring in you. Did you never feel the presence of ours? If you had, why deny it now? You force us to bear your loose words . . . Words loosed upon our world: Pronouncing guilt but never innocence. Reviling us, dripping with disdain. Defaming, claiming us victims of ourselves. Denying humanity and deep roots. All of this because . . . Why? We keep asking and asking: Why? You wish to keep us within rigid lines. You paint ugly portraits, Knowing we must fail at absurd rules. You speak as though you need rescue from us. You demean and degrade to justify A haunting coldness within yourselves. You believe our hearts and minds can take Endless beatings without feeling intense pain. Have you lost all empathy you once possessed? Only souls can rise above such brutality: Constant, deep. You declare you do not want us. You decree we must extinguish our spirits Or be defamed and maligned, Kept forever at the margins. When we speak up in our defense You refuse to listen. All must follow THE instructions Or be repudiated, scorned, destroyed. Your hearts and minds have turned to stone. You have slammed the door in our faces. Hard. We do not want to believe this, But evidence says it is true. You have thrown us into earthly limbo, Barren and bleak, Harsh and devoid of warmth. You isolate us so we cannot Infect you with our humanity. This truth evokes a piercing sadness, But life continues, even within pain. And we remain good and loving and worthy, Despite your truculent judgments. We will never submit to remaking Ourselves to suit you. While faulty and clunky and broken in places, We are fine, thank you. Capable of improvement, most certainly. Deserving of derision, never. We comprehend your ire now. It's a yawp of pain born of your shame, Shame you never deserved when innocent But took upon yourselves because You believed soulless experts could be Manifestations of the Divine. When we refused to accept captivity, You could not endure being reminded Of the soul cages you chose to inhabit. Brutes seek to confine humankind Forever on this earth. In joyous defiance, We dance in the sunshine, pain and all, Swaying to the gentle music of living In harmony with free and loving souls. Our hearts go out to you as fellow Human Beings. We will forgive you yet never forget. We acknowledge your suffering, But cannot condone your rage. Perhaps someday you will recall connections, Take ease in our company once again. We pray you, as all good people must, Seek to rectify harms beneath the shame you earned, And let go of the shame you never deserved. We remain unbowed, except to Goodness. Our souls shall persevere, no matter what. Selah. Selah. Selah. Epilogue . . . What some said we were, we never were. What some said was, never was. Yet so many believed we were and it was, The impressions created endured, Even in the face of the truth. And the pain of this injustice seared Good hearts, causing undeserved Suffering, loss, and woe. Some tried to diminish All the best in us. By using our own love against us. No more, no more, never more. First drafted June 15, 2022. Completed July 2, 2022. Barnes and Noble’s Overview
“The Bodies of Others is about how we came to the harrowing civilizational crossroads at which we find ourselves - engaged in a war against vast impersonal forces with limitless power over our lives and which threaten the freedoms we have always taken for granted.
In her most provocative book yet, Dr. Naomi Wolf shows how these forces -- from Big Tech and Big Pharma to the CCP and our oligarchical elites -- seized upon two years of COVID-19 panic in sinister new ways, to not only undermine our Republic but to fundamentally reorient human relations.
Their target is humanity itself. Their end goal is to ensure that our pre-March 2020 world is gone forever. Irretrievable. To be replaced with a world in which all human endeavor-all human joy, all human fellowship, all human advancement, all human culture, all human song, all human drama, all worship, all surprise, all flirtation, all celebration-is behind a digital paywall. A world in which we will all have to ask technology's permission to be human.
But we, the people of the world, did not vote to abandon our old systems and destroy our old ways so absolutely they could never be recovered. And Wolf shows how, against overwhelming odds, we still might win.”
